Delta NUT Commends Oborevwori Over Career Advancement for

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Delta State Wing, has praised Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for approving improved career progression for graduate teachers in public primary schools, describing the decision as a major boost for teachers’ welfare and the state’s education system.

The union said the approval resolves a long-standing issue that had hindered the professional advancement of university-trained teachers within the primary education sector, adding that the development would strengthen morale and improve classroom performance across the state.

In a letter jointly signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Poubeni Dickson, and the Assistant Secretary-General, Comrade Dan Basime, the union commended the governor for what it described as another landmark intervention in support of education.

According to the NUT, the decision reflects the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to recognising professionalism, rewarding academic qualifications and investing in a more effective public education system.

The union noted that the enhanced career progression would provide graduate teachers with greater opportunities for advancement, improve motivation and encourage higher standards of dedication and service delivery in public primary schools.

It expressed confidence that the policy would translate into improved learning outcomes for pupils while contributing to the overall development of basic education in Delta State.

The teachers’ body also assured the governor that its members would respond to the gesture with renewed commitment, greater professionalism and improved productivity in the discharge of their duties.

Reaffirming its support for the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, the union said it remains optimistic that the state government will continue to introduce policies that promote educational excellence, improve workers’ welfare and strengthen the teaching profession.

The NUT further thanked Governor Oborevwori for what it described as his consistent support for teachers and expressed hope that his administration would sustain reforms aimed at enhancing the quality of education across Delta State.
