Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, as governor of Osun State.

Davido took to his X account on Sunday to celebrate Adeleke’s victory, writing, “We did it Unc.”

In a video accompanying the post, the singer was seen lying on the floor while one of his aides, Israel, congratulated him, saying, “Congratulations boss.”

Davido had actively campaigned for Adeleke during the election and repeatedly expressed confidence that the incumbent governor would retain his seat.

Adeleke was declared the winner of the Osun State governorship election after securing 511,067 votes across the state.

The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, announced the result at about 7:24 a.m. on Sunday and returned Adeleke as governor for another term.

The incumbent, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victories in 11.

According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Adeleke won in Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo and Osogbo, among other areas.
