The bank disclosed this in a notice issued to customers on Tuesday, explaining that the breach affected only limited customer information, including email addresses and phone numbers.
According to the bank, the incident forms part of a broader global cyber-attack that has targeted multiple international organisations across different sectors.
“Zenith Bank is investigating unauthorised access to limited customer information including email addresses and phone numbers. This incident is part of a broader, global cyber-attack targeting multiple international organizations across various sectors,” the bank stated.
It said it immediately activated its incident response protocols upon discovering the breach, alongside cybersecurity measures aimed at containing the incident and preventing further compromise.
“Upon discovery, we promptly activated our incident response protocols, cybersecurity actions and remediation efforts,” the statement added.
The bank, however, reassured customers that its core banking infrastructure remains intact, stressing that all banking services and digital channels continue to operate securely.
“Our banking services and digital channels remain secure and fully operational,” Zenith Bank said.

As part of its advisory, the financial institution urged customers to remain vigilant against cybercriminals who may attempt to exploit the incident through phishing emails, fraudulent text messages or deceptive phone calls.
The bank warned customers never to disclose sensitive security information, including passwords, Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), One-Time Passwords (OTPs), or other authentication credentials to anyone.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting customer information, Zenith Bank expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in it by its customers.
“We remain committed to safeguarding our customers’ information and appreciate your continued trust and confidence,” the bank said.
