Chelsea have set a Friday 5pm UK time deadline for Manchester City to complete a potential deal for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano revealed on X that Manchester City have been in contact with Fernández’s representatives for several days as they explore the possibility of signing the Chelsea midfielder.

“Chelsea fix Friday 5pm UK time deadline for Enzo Fernández exit. 💣” Romano wrote.

However, Chelsea have made their position clear, with the Premier League club demanding a £120 million fee for the Argentina international.

“Manchester City in talks with his camp for days but #CFC made it clear: £120M fee with payment terms also communicated,” Romano added.

The Blues have also communicated their preferred payment structure to City, leaving the Premier League champions with until Friday evening to meet Chelsea’s demands if they want to complete the transfer.

“£120M by Friday at 5pm or Chelsea will not sell Enzo to Manchester City. 🇦🇷” Romano stated.

Fernández joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 in a British-record transfer at the time and has since established himself as a key figure in the club’s midfield.

The 25-year-old helped Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar before making his move to Stamford Bridge and has remained an important player for both club and country.
