Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United in a deal worth £75 million, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano disclosed the development in a post on X on Wednesday, stating that the Gunners had concluded negotiations with Newcastle after prolonged talks, while personal terms with the Brazil international had already been agreed since July.

The transfer, which is yet to be officially announced by either club, is expected to see Guimarães become Mikel Arteta’s latest midfield addition ahead of the new season.

“Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal, here we go! Agreement in place with Newcastle after long talks and personal terms in place with Bruno since July. Fee worth £75m. New midfielder for Mikel Arteta,” Romano wrote.

Guimarães joined Newcastle from French side Lyon in January 2022 and established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders.

The 28-year-old has been instrumental in the Magpies’ rise in recent seasons with his creativity, defensive work and leadership qualities.
