Army’s 10 Division To Boost Security

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Moses Maihankali, has described the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division in Taraba State as a landmark achievement that will significantly strengthen security architecture and promote peace across the state and its neighbouring communities.
Maihankali, who is also the Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council, made the remarks on Tuesday in Jalingo while assessing the security initiatives of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration.
He said the creation of the military division represents one of the administration’s most strategic accomplishments in addressing persistent security challenges, particularly in border communities that have, over the years, experienced threats ranging from banditry to communal conflicts and cross-border criminal activities.
According to him, the deployment of the army’s 10 Division is expected to improve military operations not only in Taraba State but also in neighbouring Adamawa State and other adjoining areas, thereby enhancing rapid response to security threats and reinforcing the safety of lives and property.
“The establishment of the 10 Division is expected to strengthen military operations in Taraba and neighbouring Adamawa State.
“It will also improve security across other adjoining communities that have faced security challenges over the years,” Maihankali stated.
He commended Governor Kefas for what he described as visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to improving the state’s security, noting that the successful establishment of the military formation was made possible through the collective efforts of the governor, security agencies and other critical stakeholders.

The ALGON chairman urged residents to support the army by cooperating with security personnel, volunteering credible information and remaining vigilant in their communities.
He stressed that effective security requires collaboration between security agencies and citizens, adding that community support would enable the military to effectively carry out its constitutional mandate of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of residents.
Beyond security, Maihankali praised Governor Kefas for implementing policies aimed at improving the welfare of workers and retirees.
He noted that the administration’s efforts in settling outstanding obligations to retired civil servants and improving workers’ welfare have positively impacted thousands of families across the state.
He also applauded the governor’s inclusive style of governance, saying it has promoted unity, strengthened public confidence in government and encouraged greater participation in the state’s development process.
“I call on the people of our dear state to remain united and support the governor’s development agenda because sustained public support will enable the administration to consolidate on its achievements and deliver more democratic dividends,” he said.
Maihankali further appealed to citizens to reject violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, urging them to key into Governor Kefas’ “Moving Forward” agenda, which he described as a roadmap for sustainable development, peace and economic growth.
