APC Rejects Adeleke’s Violence Claims, Predicts Victory In Osun Poll

The Osun State chapter of the APC has dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegations that the party is behind political violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

It insisted that it remains committed to peaceful polls.

Speaking on Beyond the Headlines, Secretary of the APC Media and Publicity Committee, Adebayo Adedeji, accused the governor of attempting to prepare excuses for an electoral defeat.

“The governor has understood the fact that he will lose the August 15 election. Whatever he is doing now is just preparing the ground for what is going to happen after the election,” he said.

Adedeji rejected suggestions that the APC was responsible for violence in the state, claiming instead that members of his party had been victims of attacks.

He alleged that more than 40 APC members had been killed since 2022 and urged security agencies to investigate those responsible.

Responding to criticism over APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji’s absence from a recent peace accord signing, Adedeji said the party was adequately represented by its deputy governorship candidate.

“It is a joint ticket. If the deputy governorship candidate was present to represent the principal, I don’t think there is anything wrong about it.”

He maintained that the APC’s campaign had focused on its development agenda and expressed confidence that voters would elect the party on August 15.
