The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has upgraded the Apapa Road Transmission Substation in Lagos, increasing its bulk power capacity from 60MVA to 180MVA.

Abdulaziz said the upgrade would significantly increase the quantum of bulk electricity available to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) for distribution to customers across its franchise area.
“The upgrade of the Apapa Road Transmission Substation has tripled from 60MVA to 180MVA, significantly increasing the quantum of bulk power available for offtake by Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC),” he said.
According to him, the increased capacity will particularly benefit customers in Apapa Causeway, Ijora, Amukoko, Ajegunle, Apapa Wharf and Tin Can Island, as well as other critical commercial areas within EKEDC’s franchise area.
The upgrade is expected to strengthen bulk power supply to the industrial and commercial centres served by the substation and improve the capacity of the transmission network to meet growing electricity demand in the area.
The commissioning of the two 60MVA transformers marks a significant expansion of the substation’s capacity as TCN continues efforts to strengthen electricity transmission infrastructure across the country.
