Anambra Police Recover Two Fabricated Pistols, Cult-Inscribed Caps

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription associated with the Vikings Confraternity from an abandoned motorcycle in Awka North Local Government Area.

The items were recovered on Thursday, August 13, 2026, during a routine patrol by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) along the Isuaniocha Bridge.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, operatives sighted two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number.

The suspects allegedly became suspicious of the police presence, suddenly and recklessly turned the motorcycle and attempted to evade the officers.

The operatives gave chase, but the suspects reportedly fell from the motorcycle and abandoned it, along with two slippers and a bag, before fleeing into a nearby bush.

A search of the abandoned bag led to the recovery of the two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription associated with the Vikings Confraternity.

The police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and establish their identities, affiliations and the circumstances surrounding their possession of the recovered items.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, said the command remained committed to sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations and proactive policing to disrupt criminal activities and protect residents across the state.

He directed officers to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
