The Anambra State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes, with two suspected kidnappers and armed robbers killed during a gun battle along Eziowelle Road.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command said its operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acted on credible intelligence about the presence of suspected criminals along the road.

“On sighting the Police team, the hoodlums opened fire on them, leading to a gun duel,” Ikenga said.

He said two of the suspects sustained fatal gunshot injuries during the encounter, while other members of the gang fled the scene with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
