The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged shooting of a resident of Mubi North Local Government Area by suspected military personnel, following growing public concern over the incident.

According to the police, the incident was reported on August 3, 2026, by Mr. Muslim Abubakar of Yelwa Ward, Mubi North, who alleged that his younger brother, Suleiman Abubakar, sustained a gunshot wound during an encounter with suspected military personnel on the night of August 2.
Following the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi North Division visited the scene and ensured that the victim received immediate medical attention. He was initially treated at a medical facility in Mubi before being referred to a specialist hospital in Yola for further treatment.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a comprehensive, discreet and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police Command also disclosed that it has established contact with the relevant military authorities to ensure effective collaboration throughout the investigation.
Appealing for calm, the Command assured residents that the investigation would be carried out professionally, transparently and without bias. It urged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station or contact the Police Public Relations Office.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Command assured the public that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
