Adamawa State has commenced the planting of two million lucerne trees under a partnership between the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, and Dabareji Agro Investment Limited.
The initiative is expected to improve livestock feed production, restore degraded land, create employment opportunities and promote climate-smart agriculture.
With the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, the state is seeking to position itself as a key player in efforts to expand livestock production and improve access to quality animal feed.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dabareji Agro Investment Limited, Sadiq Umar Daware, said the Feed and Fodder Project was conceived as a long-term investment in environmental restoration, sustainable livestock production, climate action and community development.
He said the project would help address major environmental and agricultural challenges, including deforestation, land degradation, declining soil fertility and inadequate access to quality livestock feed.

The Adamawa State Coordinator of L-PRES, Alpha Secondee, said the project would improve access to quality pasture, enhance livestock productivity and create employment opportunities for youths and women across the agricultural value chain.
