President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on his birthday, praising his commitment to delivering durable road infrastructure across Nigeria.
Tinubu’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement on Saturday, July 24, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President described Umahi as one of his outstanding ministers, commending his dedication, patriotism and hands-on approach to monitoring road projects nationwide.
Tinubu recalled Umahi’s previous political roles, including his tenure as Senator representing Ebonyi South District and his eight years as Governor of Ebonyi State from 2015 to 2023, during which the state witnessed significant infrastructure development.

The President said Umahi’s passion for improving Nigeria’s road network has contributed to the delivery of projects aimed at enhancing economic activities and improving citizens’ welfare.
“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers—passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century,” Tinubu said.
The President also praised the minister’s direct involvement in project supervision, noting that Umahi personally visits construction sites rather than depending solely on reports from officials.
“As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” Tinubu stated.
Tinubu urged the Minister of Works to sustain efforts towards accelerating road construction, rehabilitation and delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the President, improving road infrastructure remains critical to boosting economic growth and enhancing the quality of life of Nigerians.
Tinubu wished Umahi good health and renewed strength as he continues his service to the country.
