Rivers Women Urge Fubara-Wike Peace

A major political twist has emerged in Rivers State as Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) openly backed Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to the political family of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, describing reconciliation as the pathway to lasting peace and development.

The group also renewed its call for unity, stability and collective progress, insisting that Rivers State can only move forward through reconciliation and cooperation.

The declaration came during the group’s monthly prayer meeting at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, where women drawn from all 23 local government areas gathered to pray for peace, stability and progress in Rivers State and Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton urged members to remain steadfast in prayer, noting that their collective intercession has helped avert crises and promote harmony across the state.

She said members have not only witnessed peace in Rivers but have also experienced personal spiritual growth and divine blessings through their commitment to prayer.

Fulton reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to Governor Fubara, declaring that RWUS would continue to support his political decisions and leadership direction.

She also highlighted the group’s commitment to empowering women through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes aimed at improving livelihoods across Rivers State.

Delivering a message titled “Praise, Purpose, Pursuit and Productivity,” Dr. (Mrs.) Queen Karibi Botoye encouraged women not to lose hope despite life’s challenges.

“What may appear to be the end for man is only a bend in God’s plan. A bend is never the end, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.

Also speaking, Barr. (Mrs.) Adata Bio-Briggs said the organisation remains focused on equipping women with practical skills that promote economic independence and sustainable development.

She commended participants for the successful completion of the group’s recent skills acquisition programme, which attracted more than 780 women from the 23 local government areas and neighbouring communities.

Members expressed confidence that sustained prayers, unity and economic empowerment would enable women to continue playing a critical role in promoting peace, strengthening families and driving development across Rivers State.
