“PSC Releases Police Recruitment List” — Portal Opens For 50,000 Constable Applicants

The Police Service Commission has released the names of successful candidates in the nationwide recruitment exercise for 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force.

The commission announced the development in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu.

According to the PSC, candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination can check their recruitment status through the official police recruitment portal from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The commission said successful candidates would also receive notifications through the email addresses and telephone numbers submitted during the application process.

The recruitment covers applicants for the General Duty and Specialist cadres and follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the enlistment of 50,000 constables as part of efforts to increase police manpower and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture.

The PSC clarified that candidates whose names appear on the list would be required to report to designated police training institutions for medical examinations and documentation.

The dates and times for reporting would be communicated subsequently.

It warned that any successful candidate who failed to report within the stipulated period would be considered to have declined the recruitment offer.

Candidates who fail the medical examination to be conducted by the Police Medical Team upon resumption would also be declared medically unfit and required to leave the training institution.

The commission directed successful applicants to report with their training call-up slips, National Identification Number slips, Bank Verification Number slips, original copies and photocopies of their academic certificates, and other documents and items specified on the recruitment portal.

The official portal had earlier been used for applications, physical and credentials screening, and the written examination held between April 28 and 30, 2026.

The commission said the nationwide recruitment exercise was conducted jointly with the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Character Commission, Ministry of Police Affairs, state career and counselling departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee.

It described the process as comprehensive, inclusive, equitable and transparent.

The commission had earlier said more than 400,000 applications were received during the exercise, prompting a two-week extension of the application deadline to accommodate more eligible Nigerians.

PSC Chairman and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu thanked President Tinubu for approving the recruitment of the 50,000 constables.

Argungu said the exercise formed part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s security system and improve the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

He urged successful candidates to regard their selection as a call to national service and approach the opportunity with discipline, integrity and professionalism.

“He charged the successful candidates to see this opportunity as a clarion call to serve the nation with dignity, integrity and unwavering commitment to a safe and secured Nigeria,” the statement said.
