Presidential Council: ADC Demands Probe Of CBN, SGF Others
The controversy which has elicited strong reactions from not a few Nigerians, including the opposition is the latest scandals that has rocked the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in recent times, particularly following the mention of the president’s CoS and other agencies of the administration in the saga.
As part of its reaction to the alleged scandal, the ADC has called on the administration to set up an independent body to investigate the roles played by some government officials and agencies, saying the issue should not be swept under the carpet, particularly after the Presidency, on Wednesday cleared Gbajabiamila of any wrongdoing.
Rather, the administration has put the blame on one Adedeji Matthew, Director General of the agency for operating a ‘fictitious” agency the government said it’s unknown to it.
The administration also described Adedeji as a serial fraudster who’s trying to bring disrepute to the government.
Reacting in a statement, on Friday, signed by ADC National Publicity Secretary, the party said the Presidency’s reaction to the issue, exonerating Tinubu’s CoS, has raised more questions than answers, calling for the probe of officials and agencies mentioned in the saga.
To be investigated, according to the ADC are the CoS, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Senator George Akume, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation, and Tanimu Yakubu.
The ADC also mention National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, DSS, the Accountant General of the Federation, Nigerian Police Force, the National Assembly, among others which must be investigated, in other to get to the root of the scandal.
