Police Storm Osun SSG’s Residence, Arrest Six Over Alleged…

Drama unfolded in Osun State after police arrested the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, and five others over alleged vote-buying and electoral offences, recovering ₦4.8 million in cash, Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and other sensitive materials during a raid.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrests in a statement issued by its spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan.

According to the police, the operation followed credible intelligence on suspected criminal activities around Oroki Estate, Osogbo.

Operatives reportedly stormed a residence linked to the SSG while searching for Abiodun Arowomole, popularly known as “Ashipa,” a wanted suspect on the police watch list over alleged involvement in serious crimes, including murder.

During the operation, officers recovered ₦4,810,500 in cash, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopy machine, a printer, two Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and a voter register covering Wards 1 to 15.

Police said the recovered items have been secured for forensic examination as investigations continue.

Also arrested were Akande Taiwo (60), Oladele Abiodun (38), Adeyemo Lukman (45), Olaoye Muftau (50) and Aderemi Musliu (40), who were allegedly found at the premises alongside the 57-year-old SSG.

The command said the cash and electoral materials have raised suspicions of alleged vote-buying, criminal conspiracy and harbouring a wanted suspect, adding that more charges could follow depending on the outcome of ongoing investigations.

Commissioner Gotan assured residents that investigators would trace the source and intended use of the recovered money and ensure anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.

He stressed that no one is above the law, pledging a transparent investigation into the allegations.
