The Ogun State Police Command says it has intensified efforts to rescue victims abducted from a private hostel in the Ipara area of Ogun State.

The abduction occurred on Wednesday night, July 29, prompting a swift response from the police and other security agencies.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said tactical teams and intelligence assets were immediately deployed after the command received a distress report.

“Immediately the distress report was received, the Police and other security agencies activated a coordinated operational response, deploying tactical teams and intelligence assets to the area,” Babaseyi said.

He added that rescue efforts were ongoing.

“Rescue operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible,” he said.

The police spokesperson appealed to parents, students and residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could hinder security operations.

“The Ogun State Police Command appeals to parents, students and the general public to remain calm and disregard any misinformation capable of undermining the ongoing operations,” Babaseyi said.

He also urged members of the public to support security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities through the Gateway Shield toll-free line (0800 000 9111) or the emergency numbers 09164859299 and 09154293464.

The command assured residents that every effort is being made to secure the release of the abducted victims and bring those responsible to justice.
