Phyna Slams ₦500m Defamation Suit Against Carter Efe Over Alleged Sex Claim

Reality television star and former Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has filed a ₦500 million defamation suit against comedian and content creator Carter Efe over his allegation that they had a sexual relationship.
The legal action follows a series of heated exchanges on social media involving Phyna, Carter Efe and streamer Davrel.
The controversy began after Davrel alleged that Carter Efe had made disparaging remarks about Phyna. In response, the reality star confronted Davrel over an alleged unpaid debt, triggering a public dispute.
The situation escalated when Davrel accused Phyna of making advances toward him and asking to be introduced to his father. During a separate online confrontation, Carter Efe also alleged that he had been sexually involved with the reality star.
Reacting to the claim, Phyna challenged the comedian, asking, “Me and you fuck?” Carter Efe insisted he had evidence to support his allegation and claimed he would make it public.
Following the exchange, Phyna announced that both Carter Efe and Davrel would be hearing from her legal representatives.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session on Thursday night, she confirmed that court documents had been served on both men through email and WhatsApp as she officially commenced legal proceedings.
The reality star said the recent controversy had prompted her to change the way she responds to public attacks, admitting that her previous emotional reactions often distracted from the actions of those making the allegations.

She apologised to supporters who felt she had repeatedly allowed herself to be disrespected online, saying she would no longer engage in prolonged social media confrontations.
According to Phyna, while she is willing to tolerate criticism as a public figure, she considers allegations about her sexual life and personal relationships to be defamatory and damaging to her reputation.
She added that she would now rely on the courts rather than social media to protect her image, expressing hope that the lawsuit would discourage what she described as false and defamatory accusations against her.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Carter Efe nor Davrel had publicly responded to Phyna’s announcement of the ₦500 million defamation suit.
