PDP Leadership Crisis: The Issue Is Not Because Mohammed Abdulrahman Was Once A Driver —Bode George
According to a report by Punch, on Tuesday July 14, 2026, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has questioned the emergence of Mohammed Abdulrahman as a key figure in the party’s leadership dispute, saying concerns about his candidacy have nothing to do with his previous occupation.
According to the PDP chieftain, leadership of a national political party should be built on years of commitment, service, and contribution to the party’s growth, he expressed concern that Abdulrahman is being projected for a prominent leadership role despite what he described as a lack of visible involvement in the party’s history and development.
George stated that those aspiring to lead the PDP should have a recognised record of participation in the party’s structures and democratic activities, he questioned Abdulrahman’s role in the party’s founding years and his contributions to its progress over time.
The elder statesman maintained that party leadership should emerge through established democratic processes rather than through what he described as political manipulation or the influence of powerful interests.
“The issue is not because this man (Mohammed Abdulrahman) was once a driver. The issue is that someone with no known democratic pedigree, no recognised history of building the PDP, no record of leadership within its structures, and no visible contribution to the party’s growth is suddenly being projected as National Chairman,” he said.
