Nigerian-American engineer and Harvard graduate, Yinka Ogunbiyi, has developed what is described as the world’s first braid-assist robot, a technology designed to reduce the physical strain on hair stylists and improve efficiency in salons.
According to the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, the innovation, known as HaloBraid, helps stylists complete braiding services more efficiently, saving time while easing the repetitive physical demands of the profession.
The U.S. Mission said the startup has raised $7 million in funding and already has a waiting list of more than 7,000 salons interested in adopting the technology.
Highlighting Ogunbiyi’s achievement, the mission described HaloBraid as an example of American innovation with global impact, showcasing advances in technology aimed at transforming the beauty industry.
