Jaywon Tells Tyla to Skip Nigeria Shows

Nigerian singer Jaywon has weighed in on the ongoing online debate surrounding South African music star Tyla, urging the Grammy Award winner to reconsider any plans to perform in Nigeria.

The This Year crooner criticised Tyla for what he described as her failure to publicly address repeated xenophobic attacks in South Africa, where foreign nationals have reportedly suffered violence, intimidation and the destruction of their property.

In a message shared on his social media platform, Jaywon said the current mood among many Nigerians makes it inappropriate for the South African singer to visit the country for performances.

He argued that influential entertainers have a responsibility to speak up whenever fellow Africans are victims of violence or discrimination, regardless of their nationality.

According to the singer, remaining silent in the face of such incidents sends the wrong message and undermines efforts to promote African unity.
