JAMB Begins Registration for NCE, Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes in Polytechnics.

JAMB, in a statement by its Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, on Thursday, July 23, said eligible candidates no longer need to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to apply for the programmes.

The board said interested applicants with the required O’Level credits can visit any Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) located in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) nationwide to complete their registration.

“As previously announced, the Federal Government has waived the requirement for candidates seeking admission into NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME),” JAMB stated.

The examination body explained that it has established a structured admission process to ensure that the removal of the UTME requirement does not affect the quality and standards of the programmes.

“JAMB has developed a robust admission process to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted, thereby maintaining and enhancing the quality and standards of these programmes,” the statement added.

JAMB urged prospective students to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting designated registration centres with their O’Level credentials, noting that no UTME examination is required for the application process.

The board also announced that candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME but have chosen to switch to NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes can convert their applications at any IPRC or JAMB PRC without additional charges.

According to JAMB, the policy is part of efforts by the Federal Government to broaden access to teacher education and agricultural training while ensuring that academic standards remain protected.
