Afrobeats star Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has said he enjoys a cordial relationship with fellow music stars Wizkid and Davido, stressing that the current generation of artistes deserves its time in the spotlight.

The former P-Square member made the remarks during an interview on TVC’s Yanga FM, where he reflected on the evolution of the Nigerian music industry and the changing faces of Afrobeats.

According to Rudeboy, every era produces its leading stars, noting that just as P-Square once enjoyed dominance, the industry is now being led by Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.

He said fans should embrace the transition rather than compare generations of artistes, adding that no musician remains at the top indefinitely.

“I have a good relationship with Wizkid, Davido. It’s their turn and people should respect that. Nobody is going to be there forever. People should respect that. After that, there’s still going to be another people. You can’t be there forever, but you can still put your legacy,” he said.

Rudeboy maintained that an artiste’s true success should be measured by the impact and legacy left behind rather than how long they remain at the peak of the industry.

He also dismissed persistent debates over who deserves credit for the global rise of Afrobeats, insisting that his generation played a significant role in the genre’s growth.

“I don’t see why people argue about Afrobeats, they should know that we also made our mark,” he added.
