Nigeria’s Goodness Nwachukwu produced a stunning performance to win gold in the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Nwachukwu saved her best effort for her final throw, launching the discus 39.66m to set a new world record in the F42 category and claim the Commonwealth Games title.

The Nigerian’s winning mark improved on her previous F42 world record by more than three metres, underlining a remarkable display of power and consistency in the final.

Nwachukwu finished ahead of Wales’ Funmi Oduwaiye, who won silver with a best throw of 38.52m, while her compatriot Bree Cronin completed the podium with 36.00m.

Canada’s Addisyn Franceschini finished fourth with 32.48m, while Nigeria’s Destiny Agbo secured fifth place after recording 33.79m.

The world-record performance adds another major achievement to Nwachukwu’s growing career and gives Team Nigeria another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
