Femi Adebayo’s Ex-Wife Omotayo Sanusi Denies Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele Role In Marriage Collapse

Femi Adebayo’s former wife, Omotayo Aduke Sanusi, popularly known as Iyanaladuke, has broken her silence on a longstanding allegation linking Nollywood actresses Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele to the collapse of her marriage.

Sanusi addressed the controversy in a detailed statement shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 29, saying she was compelled to speak after a video by a social media user identified as Mama Esabod revived the allegations online.

She specifically denied claims that Toyin Abraham told her that another actress was romantically involved with Adebayo while they were working on a movie, leading her to confront the actress involved.

According to Sanusi, the allegation was fabricated and did not reflect what happened during her marriage.

“The allegation that actress Toyin Abraham was responsible for the problems in my marriage by allegedly informing me that another actress was with my then-partner on a movie set is completely false,” she stated.

She also rejected allegations that she confronted, attacked or assaulted anyone at a movie location, describing the claim as untrue.

“For the record, I never confronted, attacked, assaulted, or harassed any woman or man at any movie location. No such incident ever took place,” she said.

Sanusi explained that she was present throughout the production at the centre of the allegation, adding that her team was responsible for the welfare of the cast and crew.

“My team and I were solely responsible for the welfare of the entire production, catering for over 500 cast and crew members for more than one month as my contribution and support to my then-partner,” she said.

She questioned how an alleged confrontation involving her could have occurred during a production involving more than 500 people without producing a credible witness to support the claim.

Sanusi further challenged anyone who claimed to have been assaulted by her to publicly come forward and make the allegation themselves.

“If anyone genuinely claims to have been attacked or assaulted by me—directly or indirectly—I believe it is only fair that they come forward and make that claim themselves. Until then, I respectfully ask that people stop repeating and amplifying false narratives that have no basis in truth,” she said.

The former actress also explained that her decision to remain silent over the years should not be interpreted as an admission that the allegations were true.

She said she had deliberately chosen peace instead of engaging in public disputes, adding that her latest statement was intended to serve as her official response to the allegation and bring an end to what she described as a false narrative.

The controversy resurfaced after a TikTok blogger alleged that Toyin Abraham told Sanusi that Adebayo and Funke Akindele were romantically involved during the production of Jagun Jagun Part 2.

The blogger further claimed that Sanusi subsequently visited the movie set and confronted Akindele, alleging that the incident contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.

The allegations also claimed that Akindele later influenced some Nollywood producers against Abraham after allegedly discovering that she had instigated the confrontation.

The blogger linked the alleged fallout to speculation that Akindele ignored Abraham during Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere in April.

In a separate post on her Instagram page after releasing her statement, Sanusi criticised what she described as the hypocrisy of people who readily accepted allegations against her but objected when she decided to respond.

“It’s amazing how some people have no problem sponsoring lies, promoting falsehoods, and amplifying damaging narratives about someone’s life. But the moment that person decides to speak up, present the truth, or correct the record, they’re suddenly accused of ‘doing too much.’

“So, it’s acceptable to spread lies, but it’s not acceptable to debunk them?

“What sort of hypocrisy is that?

“If you were comfortable listening to the accusations, you should be just as willing to hear the clarification. Truth deserves the same platform that lies were given.

“Silence should never be mistaken for guilt,” she wrote.

Sanusi’s statement marks her most direct response yet to the allegations surrounding her failed marriage, as she distances both Abraham and Akindele from the controversy and calls for an end to what she described as the continued spread of false claims.
