The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants, following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Chairman of the commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development on Wednesday, in a statement made available by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

Ezeh described the approval as a demonstration of the FCT Administration’s commitment to staff welfare and career advancement in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He disclosed that promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted between July 1 and 3, while junior officers sat for theirs on July 10.

According to him, the ninister has also directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that eligible officers are promoted as and when due.

“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted promptly. This is to complement the tremendous work the FCT minister is doing in infrastructural development across the Territory,” Ezeh said.

He noted that the directive reflects the administration’s determination to balance infrastructure development with improved staff welfare and professional growth.

Ezeh commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to conduct the exercise successfully and praised civil servants for their orderly and peaceful conduct throughout the process.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Joint Union Action Committee, noting that its cooperation played a significant role in the successful completion of the promotion exercise.

The commission chairman urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotion in the FCT civil service remains merit-based, competitive, and subject to the availability of vacancies.

The latest approval comes as the Federal Capital Territory Administration continues to roll out initiatives marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, during which more than 30 projects were commissioned or flagged off across the Territory between June and July 2026.
