FAAN Commissions Upgraded Kano Terminal

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned the newly upgraded Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), marking another step in the Federal Government’s drive to modernise the country’s aviation infrastructure.

The upgraded terminal features improved baggage handling systems, modern check-in facilities, enhanced passenger lounges, upgraded air-conditioning and other critical infrastructure designed to provide a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.

Speaking at the commissioning, FAAN Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, said the project reflects the Authority’s commitment to upgrading airport infrastructure and improving passenger experience across Nigeria.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that the Federal Government had approved ₦46 billion for the rehabilitation of the airport’s primary and secondary runways.

He said the investment would further strengthen Kano’s position as a key aviation hub serving Northern Nigeria.

Chairman of the FAAN Board, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, described the project as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to renewing critical infrastructure under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He commended the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN management for delivering projects aimed at improving the aviation sector and supporting economic growth.
