Eight residents of Lagos Island Local Government Area have received vehicles and joined the Lagos State Government-backed Lagride e-mobility platform as captains under the Lagride Partner Programme.

The beneficiaries were sponsored by the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Bashir Are, who described the initiative as the first phase of a wider empowerment programme aimed at creating more economic opportunities for residents.

The participants emerged through a competitive interview and assessment process before completing training at the Lagride Drivers Academy.

They were officially onboarded and presented with their vehicles during a handover ceremony in Lagos.

Chairman of Lagride, Diana Chen, said candidates from the current intake who did not yet meet the required standard would receive additional training and be considered for future cohorts.

Under Lagride’s Drive-to-Own Scheme, the new captains will operate the vehicles, earn a daily income and work towards full ownership after completing the agreed payment plan.
