Daniel Kinahan will face Irish trial after losing Dubai extradition appeal
It is understood Daniel Kinahan has lost his final appeal against his extradition from Dubai.
This means Kinahan is likely to face trial in Ireland.
The Dubliner, who is the alleged leader of the Kinahan Cartel, had been fighting an extradition order.
It comes three months after his arrest by authorities in Dubai, following a request from gardaí.
The crime boss has been living openly there for years but an extradition order was made possible after Ireland and the United Arab Emirates signed a bilateral agreement in 2024.
Kinahan has been in Dubai since the height of the Kinahan-Hutch feud.
He is wanted here for charges relating to gangland criminality. The 48-year-old will be tried before the Special Criminal Court.
Preparations will now be underway by An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces and Prison Service to bring him back.
If he is sent home, he’ll likely be brought by the government jet, flanked on board by armed gardaí.
If charged, he’ll face trial at the Special Criminal Court, and it is understood that he will be housed in Ireland’s maximum security jail, Portlaoise Prison.
