China has rejected allegations by US President Donald Trump that Beijing interfered in the 2020 presidential election, describing the claims as “entirely fabricated” and “groundless.”
According to The Hill, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the statement on Friday during a press conference in response to Trump’s Thursday primetime address, where the US president accused China of infiltrating voter registration systems during the 2020 election.
Trump had claimed that newly declassified documents showed China compromised US election data during the 2020 presidential election cycle, alleging that Beijing obtained information from hundreds of millions of voter files.

Responding to the allegations, Lin said China had never interfered in US elections and had no intention of doing so.
“The relevant allegations by the U.S. are entirely fabricated and aimed at vilifying China,” Lin said.
“We have no interest in interfering in US elections and have never done so,” he added.
The Chinese spokesperson further argued that the international community was aware of countries that routinely interfere in the internal affairs of other nations.
When asked whether the latest accusations could affect Chinese President Xi Jinping’s planned visit to the United States in September, Lin urged Washington to stop linking China with election-related disputes.
“We urge the U.S. to stop making an issue of China in its elections and do something conducive to China-U.S. relations,” he said.
Trump, during his address, announced the release of what he described as “critical intelligence revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure.”
The president said the declassified documents showed that China allegedly carried out what he described as the largest compromise of election data in history, resulting in the acquisition of voter information belonging to millions of Americans.
