NAOWA President Wins Women Leadership Award
The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Safiyyah Shaibu, has received the Leading Emerging Women Leader in Africa Award at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Focus Africa Series.
The award recognised her efforts in promoting women’s empowerment, leadership, and community development across Africa.
Speaking after receiving the award, Safiyyah delivered a keynote lecture titled: “From the Home Front to the Boardroom: How Women’s Resilience Strengthens Families and Communities Across the World.”
She explained that women play an important role in building strong families, communities, and nations.
According to her, the experiences and responsibilities women handle, especially in military families, help develop leadership skills that can be useful in society.
Safiyyah said the home is the foundation where leadership begins and encouraged more support for women through education, mentorship, healthcare, and entrepreneurship programmes.
She also called on governments and organisations to create more opportunities for women to grow and contribute to national development.
The NAOWA president’s recognition highlights her commitment to women’s empowerment, family welfare, and transformational leadership across Africa.
