Ignore Conversations That Do Not Involve How To Get Peter Obi Into Office – Aisha Yesufu To Supporters

Activist and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Aisha Yesufu, has urged her supporters to focus only getting the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi to power.

NEWSNGR reports that Yesufu stated this in a post on 𝕏 on Thursday.

She urged her supporters to ignore any conversation that does not involve getting Obi into office in 2027.

Yesufu wrote: “My dear supporters, remember, we have moved on and focused on the bigger picture.

“Any conversation that is not about the 2027 presidential election and how to get Peter Obi @PeterObi elected and sworn into office, please ignore.

“After the 2027 General Elections we will have the luxury to respond if it is worth our time. For now we will continue with our tunnel vision on the presidential election.”

Meanwhile, National Secretary of the NDC, Ikenna Enekweizu, has revealed fresh details about the party’s internal crisis on legislative tickets, including the role played by it’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the process.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Enekweizu disclosed that Obi had supported activist Aisha Yesufu for the House of Representatives seat representing AMAC/Bwari during consultations held ahead of the elections.

According to him, the recommendation formed part of efforts by party leaders to reach agreements on candidates before the final submission of names.

NEWSNGR reports that the discussions were aimed at reducing internal disagreements and helping the party move into the election season with a united position.

Despite the proposal, Yesufu eventually decided to pursue a senatorial ticket instead of contesting for the House of Representatives seat that had been suggested during the consultations.

He said: “Peter Obi told me personally that he wanted Aisha Yesufu to run for the House of Representatives for AMAC/Bwari. But she chose Senate instead.”

Enekweizu explained that political parties often guide members on the offices they should seek in order to maintain balance and improve their chances during elections.

He said while aspirants remain free to make their own decisions, party leadership usually works to ensure that individual ambitions fit into the broader plans of the organisation.

The NDC secretary also addressed concerns raised by aspirants who failed to secure party tickets.

He noted that disappointment is common in political contests and said the party has channels in place to handle complaints and resolve disputes among members.

He added that the leadership remains focused on preserving unity within the party despite differences that may arise during the selection process.

According to him, party officials are working to ensure that disagreements do not affect preparations for future elections.
