Gunmen release abducted Plateau varsity student

A 100-level female student of Plateau State University, Bokkos, who was abducted by gunmen on Saturday night has been released.
The student was reportedly kidnapped at an off-campus residential area in the university community located in Bokkos Local Government Area, at about 8:30 pm when she and three other students went out to buy something.
It was also reported that one of the students was shot and injured during the attack while others managed to escape unhurt.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the institution, Masara Kim, who confirmed the development to journalists in Jos on Tuesday, said the abducted student was abandoned by the gunmen following intense pressure from security operatives and the university’s security men.
“She was abandoned by her captors after the university, in collaboration with a joint security team, launched an operation that forced them to flee on sighting the advancing team,” Kim said.
The PLASU PRO stated that the victim had been taken to a hospital for medical examination and was currently receiving medical attention, adding that the university was working with security agencies to ensure the safety of students and staff within and around the institution.
