Gunmen kill vigilante member in Plateau State
Armed men have killed a member of a community vigilante group, Divine Dung Davou, during an attack on Rachas Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The attack reportedly took place around 12:30 am on Tuesday while Davou was on vigilante duty, keeping watch over the community.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident, describing the deceased as a member of the local security group.
In a statement, Tengwong said the killing had plunged the victim’s family and residents of the community into mourning.
He also expressed concern over the continued exposure of rural communities to attacks, calling on the Plateau State Police Command and other security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
