President Directs Security Agencies to Track Down Suspects Behind Murder of Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka and His Friend
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the killing of prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State.
The two men were reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen in a drive-by shooting on Monday evening.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the killings as heinous and an assault on the values of peace and the sanctity of human life.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, their followers, and the government and people of Katsina State over the tragic incident.
The President also directed the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to intensify ongoing investigations, track down the perpetrators, and ensure they are apprehended and brought to justice.
He urged the agencies to strengthen efforts already being undertaken by the Katsina State Police Command to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and identify those responsible.
Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and asked God to grant comfort and strength to their families and everyone mourning their loss.
The killing has renewed concerns over the security situation in the affected community, as authorities work to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
