Osun barber remanded over alleged rape of niece

A 40-year-old barber, Segun Oladapo, has been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State over the alleged rape of his 20-year-old niece and the administration of unidentified substances to her to prevent pregnancy.
DAILY POST gathered that Oladapo was arraigned before a magistrate’s court presided over by Magistrate Dr Segun Ayilara on Friday, October 16, 2026, alongside a second defendant, identified as Yetunde, who allegedly administered treatment to the victim after the first incident.
The victim, identified as God’sglory, a name used to protect her identity, was reportedly living with her maternal family before moving into her uncle’s residence at Ilupeju Estate, Ofatedo, in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.
According to the charge sheet, “the victim was allegedly subjected to a virginity check before her uncle agreed to take her into his home, reportedly under the pretext of providing care and securing her future.”
Oladapo allegedly assaulted the young woman on April 1, 2026.
Following the incident, he was accused of arranging for Yetunde, described as a patent medicine operator, to administer treatment intended to prevent the victim from becoming pregnant.
Yetunde reportedly told investigators that she treated the victim for malaria and typhoid.
However, the victim alleged that an intravenous drip containing unidentified substances was administered to her at her uncle’s instruction.
The victim further alleged that Oladapo beat her severely and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident outside the family.
Both defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge proffered before them.
Attempts by the victim to seek assistance from family members reportedly did not result in the matter being reported to the authorities.
She was allegedly advised to keep the incident within the family rather than seek help outside it.
Information from the charge sheet alleged that “a second incident occurred about three weeks before the case was reported to the police.”
The victim subsequently confided in individuals who connected her with two female human rights activists in Osun State.
The activists reportedly facilitated the reporting of the case at the Ido-Osun Divisional Police Station on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The matter was later transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, for further investigation.
The victim has also requested the return of a blood-stained piece of clothing allegedly taken by Oladapo after the first incident.
Following the arraignment, the magistrate ordered that Oladapo be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre until November 30, 2026, when the case will come up for hearing.
Yetunde was granted bail for ₦1 million, with a condition to attend court until the next adjourned date.
