Army confirms killing of top ISWAP commander, Ohida, in Ondo – The Witness Nigeria

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of Abdussamad Ohida, a senior commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), during a joint security operation in Ondo State.
Ohida, also known as Anwar, was reportedly killed on Sunday in a forested area around Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area.
He was said to have been killed alongside several other members of the terrorist organisation during the operation.
The operation involved personnel of the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Major Innocent Olamale, said the operation was intelligence-driven.
He said, “Yes, it was a joint operation which intelligently led to the execution of the ISWAP commander.”
The army spokesman did not provide further details on the operation as of the time of filing this report.
