Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Over Alleged Gang Rape Of Teenager In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man over the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old woman in Ijebu-Igbo, while launching a manhunt for his alleged accomplice.

The suspect, identified as Ayomide Kamula, was arrested by operatives attached to the Ijebu-Igbo Division following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

According to the police, the incident allegedly occurred on August 30 at the victim’s residence in Odo Idi Scale, Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo.

The Command said officers immediately visited and secured the scene after receiving the complaint, while the victim was taken to the General Hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Police said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Kamula, who is currently in custody and assisting investigators with the probe.

His alleged accomplice, identified as Boye Balogun, is reportedly on the run, prompting an intensified intelligence-led search by the police to locate and arrest him.

The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the alleged attack and described sexual and gender-based violence as a serious crime that would not be tolerated.

Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy towards sexual offences and assured the victim’s family that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly and discreetly.

He also vowed that the fleeing suspect would be brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law.
