Billionaire Taiwo Afolabi Hosts Lavish Wedding Reception For Son, Takes Over Lagos
Nigerian billionaire businessman and Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, has hosted a lavish wedding reception in Lagos in honour of his son, Afrobeats singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X.
The star-studded celebration, held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the prestigious Harbour Point, Victoria Island, brought together prominent personalities from the business, political, entertainment and social circles.
The event marked the grand finale of the wedding celebrations between L.A.X and his longtime partner, Emmanuella Gbinijie. The couple had earlier held their white wedding ceremony in Malta in September before returning to Nigeria for the elaborate Lagos reception.
Known for his extravagant social gatherings, Afolabi spared no expense in organising a memorable celebration for his son. The Harbour Point venue was transformed with impressive lighting, beautiful floral arrangements and luxurious decorations, creating an atmosphere of elegance and grandeur.
The event also attracted a large number of high-profile guests, with the presence of business leaders, politicians, entertainers and other influential figures adding glamour to the occasion. A well-coordinated security and protocol arrangement was put in place to manage the large turnout and ensure smooth movement around the venue.
Guests were treated to an impressive hospitality experience, featuring a wide selection of local and continental dishes, premium drinks and other refreshments. Live musical performances and a DJ kept the atmosphere lively throughout the celebration, while appearances by L.A.X’s colleagues in the entertainment industry added excitement to the occasion.
Afolabi, dressed in elegant traditional attire alongside his wife, Folashade, was seen moving around the venue, welcoming guests and ensuring they were comfortable.
The businessman, who is widely recognised for his achievements in the maritime and business sectors, also joined in the celebrations, enjoying the occasion with family members, friends and associates.
The lavish reception further demonstrated Afolabi’s reputation for hosting high-profile social events, with the billionaire businessman giving his son a grand celebration attended by some of Nigeria’s most influential personalities.
