NNPCL, Seplat Reopen Scholarship Scheme For Ibeno Students

The NNPC/SEPLAT Joint Venture Ibeno Host Community Development Trust has reopened its scholarship programme for the 2026/2027 academic session, offering educational support to qualified students of Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State studying in accredited tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The scheme is open to both newly admitted and returning students enrolled in universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other government-approved tertiary institutions.

According to a statement from the trust, documentation and eligibility screening for applicants will commence from September 21 and run through November 30, 2026, during which interested candidates are expected to obtain and submit the required documents.

Speaking with journalists at the trust’s office in Upenekang, the Management Committee Lead of IHCDT, James Utiaruk, said the scholarship initiative underscores the trust’s commitment to promoting education and human capital development within the Ibeno host community.

He described education as a vital tool for personal growth and societal progress, noting that the scholarship programme should be seen as a strategic investment in the future of Ibeno youths.

“Education remains a vital pathway to individual advancement and development as an agent of social transformation of the society,” Utiaruk stated.

He explained that the initiative goes beyond financial assistance, as it is designed to equip beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities and society at large.

According to him, sustained investment in education is essential for producing a generation of skilled and educated youths capable of driving sustainable development in Ibeno and beyond.

For fresh applicants, required documents include a certificate of Origin, school certificate such as WAEC, NECO or SSCE, JAMB or admission letter, and acceptance fee receipt.

Returning students are expected to submit a Certificate of origin, previous school fees receipts, a confirmation letter from their faculty or registrar, current academic CGPA and a valid school identity card.

The scholarship programme forms part of the trust’s broader educational support initiatives aimed at reducing the financial burden of tertiary education on students and their families.

Over the years, the intervention has helped many beneficiaries remain in school and pursue academic qualifications that enhance their prospects for employment, entrepreneurship and community service.

The latest exercise also reflects the objectives of the host community development trust framework, which seeks to channel benefits from oil and gas operations into projects that improve the welfare and development of host communities.
