“I mistakenly transferred ₦450k to a dispatch rider instead of ₦4,500” – Lady cries out, pleads for refund

A Nigerian lady has cried out for help after mistakenly transferring ₦450,000 to an inDrive rider she hired to deliver a package to her customer.

In a video shared online, the woman explained that she ordered the rider on Monday afternoon, with the delivery fee set at ₦4,500, but mistakenly transferred ₦450,000 to his account.

In her words, she said:

“On Monday, around past 12, I ordered an inDrive rider to deliver a package to my customer, and the fee was ₦4,500. I mistakenly made transfer of ₦450,000 to this guy, and I’ve been trying to reach him.

I’ve texted inDrive. I’ve reached out to my bank. My bank said they reached out to OPay, because the account number was OPay. I don’t have a good response from inDrive. They’ve just been telling me to calm down.”

She revealed that she has also been calling and messaging the rider while trying to get inDrive and her bank to help resolve the issue.

According to her, the rider claimed that he was not the owner of the number linked to the inDrive account, insisting that a friend had used the number to register for the service.

“I’ve cried. I’ve been calling him. I’ve texted him. I’ve pleaded with him, with everything. He said no, that he’s not the owner of the number. His friend used the number to open inDrive. I don’t even know. The story is not joining.

“Please, I’m begging everyone to help me. ₦450,000 is a lot. I have my market to clear next month, and this is the money I’ve been saving for the market.” 

The story has triggered reactions online, with some users questioning the rider’s explanation and others sympathising with the woman over the mistaken transfer.
