BREAKING: PDP Deputy National Chairman, Dan Orbih, Dies at 74

Dan Orbih, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died.
Orbih reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement released on behalf of his family by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq.
The family announced his death with “profound sadness and a heavy heart,” stating that the veteran politician passed away in total submission to the will of God.
The statement described Orbih as a beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, while appealing to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember the family in their prayers during the period of mourning.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters, as well as other members of his extended family.
“Further details will be announced in due course,” the family said.
Orbih was a prominent figure in the PDP and played significant roles in the party’s affairs over the years. His death is expected to elicit widespread reactions from political leaders, party members and associates across Nigeria, particularly in the South-South region where he was a major political figure.
The PDP leadership and members are expected to pay tribute to the late politician as details of his funeral arrangements emerge.
The family concluded its statement with a prayer for the repose of his soul:
“May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
