Barcelona continued their blistering start to the 2026/27 La Liga season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Valencia at Mestalla on Sunday, maintaining their perfect record after four matches.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a superb finish before Fermín López doubled Barcelona’s advantage in the 22nd minute. The goal came after Anthony Gordon played an important role in the build-up, picking up the loose ball before setting up López, who fired into the bottom corner.
Raphinha then extended Barcelona’s lead five minutes after the restart, continuing his remarkable scoring form this season. The Brazilian captain had already scored five goals in the league before the match and his strike against Valencia took his tally to six, making him Barcelona’s leading scorer and the provisional La Liga top scorer.
Pedri added a fourth in the 79th minute after combining with Dani Olmo, before Yamal completed his brace five minutes later. Olmo was again involved, supplying the final pass for the teenager to finish and seal another emphatic Barcelona victory.

The result underlined Barcelona’s attacking depth, with four different players getting on the scoresheet and Yamal contributing twice. Fermín also continued his impressive start to the campaign, while Gordon again showed his importance to Hansi Flick’s attack following his summer arrival.
Gordon’s influence has been particularly notable during Barcelona’s strong opening to the season, with the England international consistently creating opportunities from the left side. Available statistics had him on three assists before Sunday’s game, highlighting his growing contribution to Flick’s attacking system.
Barcelona now have 12 points from four matches and have scored 17 goals while conceding only two. They are the only team in the division with a perfect record and sit alone at the top of the La Liga table.
Flick’s side have also scored five goals in three of their opening four league matches, underlining the attacking firepower at the manager’s disposal. The victory over Valencia followed a 5-2 win against Rayo Vallecano, where Raphinha and Yamal both scored twice.
