Ronke Oshodi-Oke defends accepting cash to support political figures

Nollywood actress, Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has said she supports politicians for money, urging people not to insult or criticise her if they see her around political figures.
The actress made this known in an interview with African A-List uploaded on Sunday on YouTube and seen byPUNCH Online on Tuesday, while speaking about Nigerian politics and whether she would accept money to endorse or support a politician.
Oshodi-Oke said she did not want to discuss Nigerian politics, which she described as “dirty”, while stressing that she was not telling people who to vote for.
“Nigeria politics is dirt so I do not want to talk about it. So I do not want to talk about it. I am not saying you should not vote for whoever you want to vote for,” she said.
Asked if she would accept money to endorse or support a politician, the actress said people should understand that she would be doing so to make a living.
“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.
The actress also opened up about her relationship with fellow actress Sotayo Gaga, revealing that they had not spoken for about five or six years.
Oshodi-Oke said they were not at war but had a disagreement, adding that Sotayo later sent her N150,000 after hearing that she was ill.
“We hadn’t spoken in a long time. Not that we were at war; we just had a little disagreement. The last time we spoke was five or six years ago. But when she heard I was sick, she sent me N150,000. And since then, we haven’t spoken. If we meet at a party, we walk past each other without even a greeting,” she said.
The actress also spoke about her health challenges, marriage struggles, motherhood and her career in the Nigerian film industry.
Oshodi-Oke reflected on the difficult period she experienced during her illness and how it influenced her outlook on life and relationships.
She also discussed her decision to join the Celestial Church of Christ during her health challenges, stressing that she did not condemn people who belonged to other religions.
The actress further spoke about her journey in Nollywood and the challenges of balancing her career, family, and personal life.
