Oyo Govt Fixes September 14 For 2026/2027 School Resumption

The Oyo State Government has announced Monday, September 14, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026/2027 academic session in public and private schools across the state.

The government disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, August 31.

According to the statement, full academic activities are expected to commence from the first day of each term throughout the session.

It added that schools are required to observe all public holidays as directed by the Federal and Oyo State Governments.

The government warned public and private schools against violating the approved academic calendar, noting that such contravention would attract penalties.

“All Public and Private Schools are to adhere strictly to the School Calendar, as contravention of the School Calendar attracts a penalty,” the statement said.

The state government also said schools operating international curricula could adopt academic dates different from those contained in the approved calendar, but would be required to obtain approval for calendar flexibility.

“Schools operating International Curricula that wish to adopt academic dates outside the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar shall apply for calendar flexibility in accordance with the prescribed guidelines,” it said.

It added that the Calendar Flexibility Application Form would be available at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for schools seeking the approval.

The government urged all schools to comply with the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar and other directives governing the new session.
