The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has urged Muslim faithful to promote peace, love and harmony as they celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Adegbite, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of the Holy Prophet and shun actions contrary to his teachings.
He encouraged the Muslim faithful to use the celebration as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and self-examination, saying it should prompt them to reflect on their lives and the exemplary deeds of Prophet Muhammad.
The NCPC boss described the Prophet as a shining light and a model for humanity, urging Muslims to deepen their knowledge of what he stood for and the values he promoted.
Adegbite also called on Muslims to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
He expressed optimism that the elections would be peaceful and that the will of God would prevail.
The NCPC executive secretary further urged Muslim clerics to continue providing sound spiritual guidance to their followers and encourage them to embrace peace at all times.
He reiterated the need for Nigerians to uphold the values of peace, love, harmony, dialogue and patriotism.
