Information Minister Mourns Veteran Journalist Dotun Oladipo
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed sadness over the death of veteran journalist and Publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, who died in Lagos on Tuesday at the age of 56.
In a statement on Friday, Idris described Oladipo’s death as a major loss to Nigeria’s media industry, noting his nearly three-decade career in journalism before establishing The Eagle Online.
“Dotun Oladipo was a dedicated journalist and media entrepreneur who made valuable contributions to Nigerian journalism, particularly in political reporting and digital publishing. His death is a painful loss to the media community,” the Minister said.
Idris said Oladipo’s commitment to professional journalism and his contribution to the development of online media would be remembered.
He commiserated with Oladipo’s family, colleagues, friends and staff of The Eagle Online, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
The Minister also prayed for the repose of the deceased and comfort for his loved ones.
