Adamawa to demolish 1975 Doctors Quarters

The Adamawa State Government is set to demolish a popular housing cluster commonly known as the Doctors Quarters.
The Doctors Quarters, built in 1975 as part of the facilities accompanying the state’s then largest healthcare facility, the Specialist Hospital, Yola, will make way for a new housing estate consisting of 48 units.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri gave the directive for the demolition of the old quarters on Monday when, during a visit to the site, he described the quarters as dilapidated structures that are no longer suitable as accommodation for medical personnel.
Fintiri said the planned new quarters would accommodate doctors, house officers and other healthcare workers attached to the Specialist Hospital.
The hospital, located along Hospital Road, Jimeta, in Yola North Local Government Area, is currently being remodelled as the teaching hospital of Adamawa State University.
The governor assured that construction of the new quarters would commence soon and be completed before he leaves office in May 2027.
