Transfer: Chelsea told to let Enzo Fernandez go

Former Chelsea star, Jody Morris, has urged the Blues to let Enzo Fernandez go if the midfielder continues to seek a move this summer transfer window.

Morris wants the Premier League west London club to cash in on the Argentina international sooner rather than later.

Fernandez has repeatedly expressed doubts about his future at Stamford Bridge in recent months.

The 25-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2023, has also shown interest in Real Madrid.

Fernandez was handed a two-match suspension in April by Chelsea for expressing a desire to live in Madrid and hinting at a potential transfer to the LaLiga giants.

However, Chelsea are reportedly still not willing to let the former Benfica star go unless they receive a huge offer of £120 million for his services.

“If someone doesn’t want to pay that price for a player, then he stays. Enzo was one of the few Chelsea players last season who could earn a passing grade, and there were not many who did,” Morris told Boyle Sports.

“My consistent stance is: if someone doesn’t want to stay at the club, let him go. Letting him go doesn’t mean letting him leave cheaply.

“If someone doesn’t want to stay at Chelsea, I would rather they leave, regardless of their performance or how much you like the player.

“I think most coaches or managers would have the same view. Owners would be different because they have to consider value for money.”
